Every year, typically in late spring, OADSP hosts our Summit. Planned and organized by the DSP and Frontline Supervisor Councils, the Summit is a professional conference designed specifically for DSPs, Frontline Supervisors, and Independent Providers. The event gives all who attend the chance to hear from experts and each other about better ways to live and work. The program usually includes a keynote speaker, additional presentations, and a range of inspirational and enjoyable activities. Presentations generally address topics such as leadership, wellness, I/DD system updates, communications – whatever subjects are momentous and timely.
The Summit happens with support from OADSP’s ABC Boosters, County Boards of DD, provider agencies, and businesses with connections to the I/DD field, as well as Ohio’s Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), which typically issues continuing/professional education units for approved sessions. Portions of the Summit may be broadcast for those who can’t make the trip to the site – and locations have included DWELL Community Conference Center and Nationwide Conference Center & Hotel.
It is hoped that everyone who attends, whether in-person or virtually, returns to their day-to-day with new information to share, better practices to implement, and a greater sense of comradery with their colleagues and peers in the I/DD system.
