One of the most exciting roles OADSP plays is guiding DSPs toward a realization: with these professionals’ great responsibility comes great power. OADSP is here to help them use it most effectively and to the benefit of as many people as possible. We have developed programs to help DSPs actualize their importance, both individually and as groups, in the I/DD field and in the rest of the world.

Please browse Empower‘s submenus to learn more about programs like Leadership LAUNCHpad, BIO retreats, and the Direct Leadership Certificate – and check the Calendar for scheduled events.

DSPs perform valuable work in assisting people with disabilities to live in their communities – and federal legislators need help understanding what that means. The American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) and the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) are spearheading efforts toward that end. OADSP is a proud member of both organizations, and we are pleased to help in those efforts by sharing this link. This petition provides a vehicle for expressing your support for federal legislation establishing a Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) for DSPs. Why is an SOC so important? Find out here! – and thank you for giving voice to your advocacy.
